Hey y’all! Hope you’ve had a great couple of weeks. The hubby and I have moved to Atlanta and are almost finished unpacking. We just got internet today, which is why I’m finally posting again! I’ve missed it! We’re really looking forward to our new place, but will miss all of the great relationships that we’ve built over this past year in Tampa.
Here’s a recap of the last weekend the hubby and I spent in Tampa. It was a great way to end it.Lately we’ve been getting our place in order, changing our address on all of our stuff, and working on finding a job for me. I can’t lie that I’ve really enjoyed not going to work, but I know I will need to get back out there soon and I’m hoping to find something that I’ll really enjoy doing.
Here’s the recap of our last weekend….
SATURDAY:
The hubby and I slept in and it was awesome! I feel like I haven’t done that in ages – always something to get to. But the hubby and I just rolled with it. We watched some TV and then finally decided we were hungry and that we’ll just skip ahead to lunch. Our plan this weekend was to try to get in some last restaurant visits and fun things before we leave Tampa.
Lunch: So lunch was at Datz Foodie’s Market and Loft Bar - I have heard great things about this place, but had never tried it before. It’s a gourmet deli/restaurant with a little market to purchase foodie itemslike cheeses, olive oils, gourmet salts and various beers . The hubby and a few coworkers went there for lunch a while back and raved about it. When we got there, we had about a 25 min wait. But it totally was worth it. They even had a little bakery section with ginormous cakes and delicious truffles.
Once we sat down, the hubby ordered this massive beer and we shared it with our meal
Saturday Night: The hubby and I decided to try out a new beer place that’s within walking distance of our place – called Pour House at Grand Central. They have 40 brews on tap and then a bunch more in bottles in a separate cooler. We were hoping they’d have some bar food to munc hon for dinner. They did have popcorn – I think we had about 3 servings worth. We were there for a few hours.
Late night Dinner: After having some delicious beer, we decided we were starving and walked back towards our place and over to Channelside to get some dinner. It was getting kind of late, so we weren’t left with too many choices, but had a craving for Thai food. Eventhough this place is a chain restaurant it turned out to be pretty good. It wasn’t as good as Little Bangkok in Atlanta, but in the same ball park.
Here’s what we ordered…
Overall, the dinner was pretty good – my pad thai tasted a little generic, but the hubby’s panang curry was almost like the one we get in Atlanta out our hole in the wall place Little Bangkok.
SUNDAY:
Sunday morning we headed to church to hear our pastor and to say good-bye to our friends. Bye Common Ground…we’ll miss you
Lunch: After church, we made plans to meet up with our group of friends for a bon voyage meal – Indian Buffett! What better way to end it then with good food and great friends! We went to Angithi and it was the first Indian meal for many of our friends, but I think that they really liked it!
After lunch, we said our good-bye’s and it was sad.
Once we got home from lunch, the hubby packed for his trip back to Atlanta. I dropped him off at the airport and then headed back to our place.
I ended up making some peanut butter cookies using this recipe for work and for a cookout I was going to on Monday.
So, that wraps up our last weekend in Tampa. It was truly a great one and a great way to say good-bye to our friends and the city.
Here are some pics of Bentley enjoying his last days/moments in Tampa….
Peace out y’all! Glad to be back!
