Hey y’all! Hope you’re having a great weekend…the hubby and I are currently relaxin it up on the couch after a fun-filled weekend. I’m always sad to see the weekend fly by!!
Yesterday morning, the hubby and I started the day off with a nice humid bike ride around the neighborhood, boy was it hot and sticky out there, but it was a lot of fun, we traveled down some new roads and a few hills too…tough, but definitely a lot of fun.
Before the bike ride I had 1/2 a banana to give me some fuel
After our bike ride, I got ready to head over to the Buckhead BTB Crossfit Open House they hosted at 11:00am. So I grabbed a little breakfast before heading over there
Raw oats + Unsweetened Almond Milk + Almond Butter
Crossfit Open House: Woah Buddy!!! That Crossfit Session was seriously intense…I was a little nervous because I wasn’t 100% sure of what to expect, but I really wanted to go and see what it’s about. I keep hearing so many good things about Crossfit and we have several patients that do it and I’ve been talking to them about it and they LOVE it. Saturday’s theme – Burpees
Warm-up:
- A little jog outside of the gym into an empty parking lot
- Knee ups across then push-ups
- Grapevine back
- Backward jogging
- Lunge & Twist
- Dynamic Stretching: on tip-toes, heels, knee-ups
- Jog back to gym
Workout:
6 minute blocks – 3 exercises: abs, push-ups and wall balls
1st block – 5 burpees, butterfly sit-ups – on the start of each minute we did the 5 burpees and the remaining minute was spent doing that exercise and repeat until 6 mins are up
Rest 2 mins
2nd block – 5 burpees, push-ups (I had to do girlie styles)- on the start of each minute we did the 5 burpees and the remaining minute was spent doing that exercise and repeat until 6 mins are up
Rest 2 mins
3rd block – 5 burpees, wall balls with 6 & 10 lb ball (another girl and I alternated b/c they didn’t have that many lighter weight balls) – on the start of each minute we did the 5 burpees and the remaining minute was spent doing that exercise and repeat until 6 mins are up
Stretching:
After the workouts, we gathered around in a circle and did some static stretching
During each round we’d keep track of how many exercises we did total and then wrote it down. It was super hard, but I loved it! I couldn’t do all of the burpees and ended up doing jump squats, but hope to work up to it.
Lunch: For lunch, the hubby went and grabbed us Chick-fil-a while I grabbed us a spot at the pool at our apt. Man was it super hot out there yesterday. We ate poolside, in the shade thankfully, and then talked for a while and then called it a day at the pool, it was just too hot. I had a char-grilled chicken sandwich without the fries.
I spent time re-reading Eat, Pray, Love and just hanging out with the hubby and Bentley
Dinner: I bought quinoa pasta noodles the other day to have the hubby try them out, but didn’t realize that the noodles were only a quinoa blend and not fully quinoa noodles or gluten-free. But I gave them a try anyway with fresh spaghetti sauce I also picked up at the farmer’s market on Thursday and tossed in a turkey meatball. It was really yummy! Forgot to take a pic though.
After dinner, the hubby and I met up with a friend and her husband to go bowling at Funtime Bowling off of Buford Highway. And I’m really a bad bowler, but somehow managed to beat the hubby the first 2 games and then he won the third game. We also drank some beer and had a great time!!
Let’s recap the past few days shall we?…..
THURSDAY
Thursday I had a loverlie day off from work. Although my job isn’t super stressful (yet) who doesn’t LOVE a day off during the week? But this day off from work has become my errand day, which I don’t mind too terribly much since that means more play time on the weekend and <3 weekends oh so much!
Breakfast: Thursday I thought I’d actually have cooked oats today. I added in carob chips, coconut flakes, almond butter and a little maple syrup
After breakfast and watching a few episodes of Say Yes to the Dress I found on Netflix, I headed off to the Dekalb Farmer’s Market to stock on some much-needed produce. Love that place…even if it’s a little bit out-of-the-way. I got a lot of fresh veggies to cook up next week!!!
Workout: I was also able to get in a little workout on Thursday -
- 10 min warm-up, walking
- 35 min running – 3.30 miles
- 5 min cool-down, walking
- 40 min on elliptical – intervals – lvl 4, res 1 then up to lvl 10 res 8
Snack: I tried the final new flavor I bought the other day – chocolate chip brownie – Serious deliciousness!!!
For dinner: I made up turkey meatballs for me and the hubby along with sautéed okra. The turkey meatballs is from the Eat-Clean Diet Cookbook. Super easy to make!

FRIDAY:
The hubby came back from his trip Thursday evening and on Friday morning, gave me this little chocolate delight….It’s the Ritz Carlton Credo on White Chocolate which is on top of Milk Chocolate. I forgot to snap a photo of the entire bar before breaking off a piece to sample, which had the lion head on it. Yum!
Breakfast: Friday morning started with this yummy concoction of creaminess and sweetness with a good fiber and protein!
Snack: 2 Turkey Meatballs + Strips of raw red pepper and celery
Lunch: The hubby and I met up for lunch on Friday at an awesome sandwich shop that we used to frequent when we lived here a few years ago – New Yorker Marketplace & Deli. And lucky me it’s only a block away from my work. Love this place…it’s pretty much a little hole in the wall, but always delivers a great sandwich and great flavored Zapp’s chips. They also carry gourmet grocery items and other ready-to-eat gourmet dishes and salads, such as chicken salad, ect.
Snack: Key Lime Larabar
Dinner: The hubby and I ended up going to the movies and hurried to get ready for an 8:25pm movie time, which left us little time for dinner, so I just grabbed 1/2 banana w/ almond butter and a few bites of greek yogurt and 2 turkey meatballs
The hubby and I also shared a diet soda and movie theater popcorn – oh so bad for us, but tastes oh so good.
We saw the movie Inception written and directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Ken Wantanabe, and Cillian Murphy….it was such an incredible movie. Loved it – think everyone should see it, even if you aren’t a big sci-fi movie fan. It really makes you stop and think. Very deep movie and the hubby and I had a great conversation afterwards, which is always nice.
The movie was fairly lengthy and we weren’t able to see the earlier show time because it was sold out, so we had to wait until the 9:40 showing, so we didn’t get home until after midnight, then we crashed out.
So, that’s what we’ve been up to these past few days.
Peace out….
