Hey y’all! Hope your Friday has been awesome, mine sure has been. Today I drove up to Commerce, GA to visit my parents. Even though we’ve recently moved back up to Atlanta, I haven’t been visiting them that frequently, so I decided since I had the day off, I would go and see them for a while. I also drove over to Athens – which is about 30 mins from Commerce to have lunch with my sister.
Today’s visit with my parents and sister was short but sweet. I think my sister is coming down to see me this weekend, so we can hang out more when she’s here and my mom’s birthday is coming up, so I can’t wait to be able to be present and make her a nice cake this year now that we’re back in Atlanta.
This morning, I had to take care of a few things before hitting the road, so by the time I was ready for breakfast, I needed it to be fast and portable – a protein shake on the go.
Breakfast: Protein Shake with: Almond milk, 1T Nutribiotic, 1T TJ’s raw Almond Butter (199 cals)
After seeing and chatting with my parents for a few hours, I headed over to meet my sister for lunch. I’ve been on a Mexican kick ever since we went to San Antonio and was craving tacos today. I really wanted Chipotle, but my sister prefers Moe’s, so I suggested that and she gladly agreed.
Lunch: I was starving by the time I got to her work…I had 2 unanimous decision tacos – no cheese or sour cream. I did have black beans, pico de gallo, lettuce, guacamole, and jalapeños (340 cals) + chips, but I didn’t eat all of them (72 cals)
Snack: Dried Apricots (73 cals) – I grabbed some apricots from my sister’s office for my “dessert” and then hit the road for home.
After driving home from Athens, which took forever with all of the traffic, I headed to the gym to get a run in. I had planned on going first thing, but decided I had too much today before heading up to see my family. So, after sitting in that car for so long, I was ready to move. It was good to run, let some stress go.
Workout:
- 10 min warm-up, walking on treadmill
- 5.08 mile run – 52:30 mins
- 8 min cool-down, walking on treadmill
- light stretching
I want/need to do some yoga to stretch out my muscles!!!
I know lots and lots of people run a ton more than I do and faster than I do, but for me, today is a huge accomplishment and I hope I can continue to build up and get faster. I felt so good and accomplished after my run today. I didn’t feel any pain in my rib, hip or knee today!!! Success.
Dinner: Chicken + Cheese Quesadilla: 1 whole wheat flour tortilla, crockpot lemon pepper chicken, & 1/4 cup reduced fat cheese quesadilla w/ some nachos with chicken and cheese (315 cals) + 8oz shiraz wine (200 cals – yikes). See…Mexican again – love it. Well that, and our fridge is empty and cupboard is bare…hitting the grocery store tomorrow – can’t wait. We have absolutely NO veggies on hand – that never happens!
For my crockpot chicken, I put it in the crockpot before leaving to see my parents. I added onion, lemon pepper seasoning, garlic, and olive oil to my chicken and then turned it on low and then...”forget about it”
The chicken was really yummy – very flavorful and tender – the onions were really delicious after cooking for hours

Absolutely love this stuff, but it sets my mouth on fire like no one’s business!!! I call it “fire in a bottle” – but after the fire calms down a bit, it has an amazing flavor to it. A little goes a long way fo sho!
Oh and I also made this to take to my parent and sister and they were an absolute hit!!
Believe it or not, I did not have any cookies today – check out that self control…it’s usually not that strong =)

The hubby and I are just hanging out at home tonight…catching up on some Law & Order of course and watching a little Man vs Wild!
