Hey guys! Hope you’re having a fantastic weekend so far. Yesterday the hubby and I spent the day running errands, cleaning up our apt, going to the park and then hanging out.
The weather has turned so nice lately and we’ve been trying to take advantage of it!!
I’ve been on a roll this week with hitting up the gym…I chose to go first thing in the morning, so I wouldn’t make an excuse not to do so later.
Workout:
10 min warm-up, walking on treadmill
Legs – 2 sets of 12 reps
- Leg Extension, 25lbs
- Hamstring Curls, 25lbs
- Wide-stance Squats, holding 8lb medicine ball – 3 sets
- Walking Lunges, holding 5lb weights
- Calve Raises, holding 10lb weights
- Hip exercises – bent leg raises, front circles, back circles, side leg extensions (1 set, 10 reps per exercise)
5 min cool-down, walking on treadmill
After hitting up the gym, I came home and we got ready to head to the Atlanta Aveda Institute to get our haircut. I love going there because they use all of the Aveda products, but they are a fraction of the price because the students are providing the services. However, it’s still great because they are being graded and have to explain to their instructors what they’re going to do and then the instructors will talk to them about how to make it happen. They also have to get approvals along the way from their instructors and then get a final sign off on the haircut…so you know that you’ll get something you like because they need a good grade. But I’ve always had a great experience here…the only downside for some might be the time commitment. It usually takes about 1-1.5 hours for the entire process. I don’t mind this, so it’s a great bargain for me.
Breakfast: By the time we were done with our hair appointments we were starving and felt like some breakfast, so we ended up at Einstein Bros Bagels – 2 mini bagels – 1 plain & 1 asiago w/ peanut butter and a banana.
Then it was home to clean up the apartment and then run some errands.
Snack: key lime pie Larabar - I ate this after running errands.
The hubby and I also went to a park yesterday, Lenox Park, where we used to go walk around while when we were dating and we even had our engagement shoot in. I love it because it’s backed up to a busy road, but it’s tucked behind a few office buildings and apartment buildings. It’s a little haven in the city.
After walking around the park for about 45 mins, we drove home and then fixed dinner.
Dinner: Broccoli & Cheese Quiche + Salad
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of broccoli, steamed and chopped
- 1/4 cup onion – sliced
- 1 cup milk – I used unsweetened coconut milk
- 3 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 Tbsp flour
- garlic powder
- salt and pepper
- 1 Pillsbury pie crust
Here’s my piece of Quiche. I also had a nice salad to round out my meal.
I made this Quiche a little different from the one I normally bake, this time, I didn’t pre-bake the pie crust like I usually do and so the crust wasn’t as firm like we usually like it. Next time, I won’t skip this step.
In my salad: mixed field greens, blueberries, cucumbers, avocado, and Goddess dressing
Dessert: Fage 0% Greek Yogurt, Almond butter and maple syrup
Yum!
I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned on the blog or not but I love music almost as much as I love food. I love all genres too! So, I think moving forward I’m gonna start sharing some of my favorite songs at the moment with y’all. Right now, I’m digging this song…love this artist. I also love her Breathe Me and Beautiful Calm Driving songs as well. This one’s a little more upbeat.
Song of the day: Clap Your Hands by Sia
Peace out….

I’m glad you took advantage of the glorious weather this weekend! Just wanted to give you a heads up that I gave you an award on my blog: http://bit.ly/cgi4FL
