Hey y’all! Another gorgeous day here in the ATL! We definitely took advantage of this gorgeous weather Sunday afternoon.
First thing Sunday morning, I hit the gym – I was tempted to sleep in, but talked myself into out of that and into going.
Workout:
- 7 min warm-up on treadmill
- 5 min running – 5.5
- 20 interval – 6.0 1 min, 7.0 1 min
- 5 cool down (3 miles w/o warm-up)
This weekend was the Decatur Book Festival and the hubby, me and my sister decided to check it out. This is our second time attending this festival. My favorite part of the festival is the cookbook portion because they hold a demonstration by the author of a selected cookbook. We only made it to the last demonstration of the weekend and boy am I so glad we had the opportunity to do so. The demonstration was on Canning! The author of this beautiful cookbook – Canning for a New Generation: Bold, Fresh Flavors for the Modern Pantry by Liana Krissoff. She demonstrated making a fruit preserve.
It was ironic that this happened to be the demonstration we caught because the hubby and I were recently talking about canning and how we’d love try it out for ourselves. My granny and papa used to do it and my mom used to do it as well, but me and my sister never really learned. Seemed like so much work. However, sitting through the demonstration yesterday really opened our eyes and we were like, whoa! we can do this. She made it look simple and I know that there are lots of things we should read up on to know more about what we’re doing and why we need to do them, but she really made it come to life for us!!! Loved every second of this demonstration.
Love this festival – it’s always a great turn out and we love walking around the downtown area of Decatur – definitely wouldn’t mind living here.
Here are some pics of our time…
The AJC – which was a huge sponsor this weekend, took free photos of people!
Onto Sunday’s eats….
Breakfast: Green Smoothie
Snack: Apricots
Dinner: Spinach Salad
In my salad:
- Mixed field greens
- Cucumber
- Salsa
- Fage 0% Greek Yogurt
- Cheddar Cheese
- 1 egg + 1 egg white
Delish!
Dessert: Nectarine Preserves on Sourdough toast
Nice Memories: Preserves make me think of my granny and papa…they used to have a special room specifically for all of their canned items and we used to get to go back there and pick what we wanted to take home with us. Those were the good old days for sure….
